Stone Introduction: Carnelian

Carnelian gets its beautiful red, orange and brown hues from iron oxide. It is a member of the Chalcedony family and is a silica mineral. Carnelian means energy and creativity.

In ancient times the Egyptians considered the Orange Carnelian to be that of feminine energy and related to the menstrual cycle, linking it to fertility and the power of Isis. The Red Carnelian was considered to be of masculine energy and more active its power and related to embracing the fiery energy of the new.

Carnelian is known to make shy speakers more bold, eloquent and confident. In ancient times, warriors wore Carnelian around their necks for bravery and to enhance physical power during combat. Master architects in Ancient Egypt wore them to show their ranks and in the Middle East, alchemists wore them to activate the energies of other chalcedonies.

Use Carnelian to balance and open the sacral chakra, where the creative and sexual energies are stored.

Use Carnelian to heal the body, mind and soul, It is linked to increasing coordination during physical exercise, stimulating muscles and allowing oxygen to flow smoothly through the body.

The best way to cleanse Carnelian is sunshine. Orange, red and yellow crystals love sunbathing, so keep them in the sunlight for a while to help them recharge.
